1955–1988: The Foundation Years — Wilbert Joe Wood
The story begins in 1955, when Wilbert Joe Wood founded Joe Wood Construction as a sole proprietorship. With a passion for building and a hands-on approach, Wilbert quickly earned a reputation for reliable, high-quality residential construction in Wichita Falls and surrounding areas. For more than three decades, he laid the foundation—both literally and figuratively—for what would become a respected family business.
1988–2016: A New Generation — Danny Joe Wood
In 1988, Wilbert’s son, Danny Joe Wood, took over operations and expanded the business under two names: DJW Construction and Joe Wood Construction & Roofing, operating as a sole proprietor. While the company retained the family name, Danny introduced new services, particularly roofing, to better serve the needs of local homeowners.
Over the next 28 years, Danny solidified the business’s reputation for reliability, personalized service, and top-tier craftsmanship. Under his leadership, Joe Wood Construction & Roofing became a well-known and trusted brand throughout Wichita Falls.

2001–2014: The Building Blocks of the Future Joe Kyle Wood & Gerald Keith Heflin
In July 2001,Joe Kyle Wood, Danny’s son, began working as a subcontractor for the company. Immersing himself in every aspect of residential construction and roofing, Joe Kyle gained hands-on experience and learned the family trade from the ground up.
Around this time, Gerald Keith Heflin
also began contributing as a subcontractor bringing valuable expertise and becoming a long-term part of the team. Though the exact date of Gerald’s start remains unclear, his role has been pivotal in supporting the company’s projects and reputation for excellence.
2015–2022: A Family Partnership — Joe Wood Construction & Roofing, LLC
Recognizing the value of formalizing their family business for future growth,Danny Joe Wood and Joe Kyle Wood officially formed Joe Wood Construction & Roofing, L.L.C. on February 21, 2015
With Danny holding 51% ownership and Joe Kyle
49%, the LLC combined decades of knowledge with a new energy and vision. The company continued to provide exceptional general contracting, remodeling, and roofing services throughout Wichita Falls—always rooted in integrity, craftsmanship, and family values.
This partnership continued until the end of
2022 , with the business growing steadily and earning loyalty from homeowners across the region.
2023–Present: Full Ownership — Joe Kyle Wood Leads Forward
On January 1, 2023, Joe Kyle Wood became the
100% owner ofJoe Wood Construction & Roofing, L.L.C. With more than 20 years of experience under his belt and a deep understanding of both construction and the community, Joe Kyle continues to lead the company into a new erahonoring its legacy while embracing innovation.
In May 2020, Anthony Kyle joined the company as a part-time employee. By May 27, 2021, he became a full-time member of the team—adding another layer to the multi-generational legacy of Joe Wood Construction. His involvement signifies a continued commitment to mentoring the next generation and preserving the core values that have guided the company for decades
